Muscle Training Program, Part 3

Our muscle training program now addresses the Nutrition Factor.

Nutrition is another key to proper muscular growth. Your body has specific nutritional needs to sustain itself, plus additional needs for growth. Proper daily nutrition consists of getting all the essential nutrients the body needs at a cellular level. Herbalife refers to this process as "cellular nutrition," and it involves a combination of food science, micronutrient supplementation and herbs. Cellular nutrition is the basis of our Muscle Strength & Recovery drink mix.

The additional nutrition required for muscle growth is more than simply the energy, and those vitamins, minerals and trace elements that support the underlying metabolic processes. Muscle Strength & Recovery has been specially designed to provide advanced nutritional supplementation to maximize the progressive muscular development of even the most avid bodybuilder. Inadequate nutrition can severely limit the growth response.

Don't take chances! On a daily basis simply add two Muscle Strength & Recovery shakes (three if lean body weight is over 200 lbs.) to your normal low-fat, well-balanced diet to get optimum results.

The third essential pillar of muscle growth, besides good nutrition and reducing catabolic stress, is applying the specific anabolic stimulus to induce muscle hypertrophy. In fact, contrary to the promises often made by many protein powder manufacturers, this is the one absolute requirement for muscle growth. Given the proper stimulus, a muscle will hypertrophy even when nutrition is impaired, although not to the same degree.

The opposite is not true. Simply adding protein to the diet, even of the highest possible quality, will not result in muscle growth. To grow, a muscle must be stimulated. The programs described in this series are based on the latest scientific findings regarding muscle growth, and can be used by anyone at any level of bodybuilding experience who is interested in improving muscularity and physique.

A word on hydration. It is imperative to drink water, and lots of it. Please refer to Water and Weight Maintenance for vital information on water and its importance. When you exercise, your body requires even more water than is recommended. The water you drink should be water only, often labeled "distilled." Don't delay in beginning the water regime.

A word on the need for antioxidants. Exercise creates an increased need for antioxidants. Free radicals produced by intense exercise can cause cell damage and increase aging. Proper nutrition, including the addition of vital antioxidants, is your first line of defense against cell damage and aging.

Note: The combination of nutrition and exercise described in the muscle training series can stimulate rapid muscle growth. If you are not interest in increasing muscle size and strength, a more moderate system of nutriton and exercise may be appropriate for you.
